For a move, both local and international, volume is paramount, as it is the variable used to apply against a rate. That is, in international cases, airlines, shipping companies, and land transport charge according to the space occupied in each of these means. The volume of a 20 ft container is not the same as the volume of a 40 ft container, or a 16 ft truck versus a 24 ft truck, for example.

Regarding complexity, many factors require more resources and equipment, for example:

  • Do you need to hoist furniture or equipment up or down from the exterior (facade of your residence or business)?
  • Do you need to carry furniture or equipment up or down stairs in your residence or business?
  • Do you require special packaging for artwork?
  • Do you require special packaging for kitchen items, clothing, or decorations?
  • Do you need to include your car or motorcycle in your international move?

How do you protect my furniture?

As a company that strives to improve processes every day, we seek to adapt to international standards and best practices. That is why we use quality materials that aim to protect your most valuable possessions.

  • Double-layer corrugated cardboard, corner protectors (for sofas, chairs, tables, cabinets, and hard furniture that require strong protection).
  • Bubble wrap, Kraft paper (for glass, ornaments, kitchen items, picture frames).
  • Double-faced cardboard boxes (for books, clothes, computers).
  • Double-layer cardboard sheets (we regularly use these to custom-make boxes for furniture with irregular dimensions).

How long does a move take?

The time will depend on the complexity, volume, and distance, as indicated in the question about the aspects to consider when quoting a move.

Generally, a move:

  • National, can take between 1 to 3 days for the packing and transport process until final delivery.
  • International, can take 1 to 3 days for the packing process, and an additional 8 to 45 days for delivery depending on the destination until final delivery.

In an international move, can I take everything?

Generally, yes, with each country's specific restrictions. Excluding, for example, perishable foodstuffs, alcohol, pornographic material, drugs, jewelry, minerals, merchandise for sale, among others.

Each country has its own restrictions. For example, the Republic of Colombia does not permit the importation of household vehicles, as this is only exempt for diplomats.

In this case, we always recommend consulting each country's customs restrictions before quoting your move, which we regularly include in the quotation.

In the case of domestic moves, you can also take everything with the exceptions of perishable foodstuffs, alcohol, pornographic material, drugs, jewelry, minerals, merchandise for sale, among others.

How far in advance should I request moving services?

The recommendation is to prepare your domestic residential move at least 2 weeks in advance so that the moving company can inspect and book dates, the client can reserve spaces and elevators, and have the necessary permits up to date to minimize any risks inherent in last-minute operations.

As for international moves, they should be done at least 45 days in advance, directly contacting a recognized international moving company. This company should conduct an inspection and provide you with operational details, immigration documents, packing details, and important aspects of the service at the destination.
